Transcribe a file from your phone or computer

Quick answer: Sign in, choose your language and model, then select ‘or upload a media file’ below the link input. Selecting a file starts its upload automatically. Confirm the displayed credit price to transcribe, or cancel the upload.

Upload and confirm

  1. Sign in on TranscriptX. File uploads are available where the upload link is enabled.
  2. Choose a language and model, or leave the defaults.
  3. Click or upload a media file underneath the URL input. Choose a recording from your phone or computer.
  4. The upload starts automatically. The progress bar shows bytes transferred; the card then shows that the recording is being checked.
  5. When ready, choose Transcribe at the displayed credit price, or Cancel upload. Canceling before transcription costs no credits.
  6. Keep the page open during processing. Copy your transcript, view timestamps, or use the exports included in your plan.

File limits and credits

Upload one file at a time, up to 100 MB and 30 minutes. Both limits apply. Supported formats include MP4, MOV, WebM, MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and FLAC. The file must contain an audio track; when there are multiple audio tracks, the first is transcribed.

We check the recording before showing its price. Existing plan allowances apply. Invalid files are not charged, and reserved credits are restored if transcription fails.

Privacy and temporary storage

Recordings upload to a private Cloudflare R2 bucket using temporary signed URLs. The server temporarily downloads the file to prepare audio, which is sent to Groq for transcription. Media is deleted after processing or cancellation, with automatic cleanup and a lifecycle fallback for abandoned uploads.

Completed results can be recovered for one hour. Copy or export what you need. This is temporary processing, not a permanent recording library.

Interrupted uploads and language corrections

If you lose the connection or reload, use Check upload status before starting again. A completed result can be recovered without another charge. Incomplete or expired uploads need to be selected again.

For a wrong-language result, select the correct language above the input and click Retry with another language on the result. We reuse the original file while it remains in this page’s memory, or ask you to select the identical file again. A different file is rejected without consuming the retry.
