How to Transcribe a LinkedIn Video Post
Updated 24 Apr 2026 · TranscriptX editorial
Step-by-step
1) Open the post as a standalone page
Click the timestamp under the post ("2h", "1d ago") to open it at its own URL. This is critical — the feed URL doesn't point at a specific post.
2) Copy the URL from the browser
Format is linkedin.com/posts/username_topic-activity-7123456789. The -activity- segment is the post ID.
3) Paste on TranscriptX
Drop the URL on transcriptx.xyz.
Common things that break
- Connection-only or private post. LinkedIn lets users post to connections-only, which requires a connection relationship with the poster. We can't establish that.
- Company Page restricted access. Some Company Pages require employee verification to view. We're not an employee.
- Deleted post. Common on LinkedIn — posters edit or delete often. If the URL 404s now, the post is gone.
- Article-embedded video vs post video. LinkedIn Articles (long-form) embed videos differently than feed posts. If an Article URL fails, grab the video's own URL from inside the Article instead.

FAQ
Does LinkedIn provide captions?
Sometimes auto-generated, but export is clunky and incomplete. We run Whisper on the audio for a cleaner transcript.
What about LinkedIn Live recordings?

Can I transcribe a LinkedIn video I DM'd someone?
No. DMs are behind your personal login and not accessible to external tools.
