How to Transcribe a Podcastle Recording
Updated 24 Apr 2026 · TranscriptX editorial
Quick answer: After your Podcastle session, export the finished audio or video (Podcastle calls this "Download" from your project dashboard). Upload the file to Google Drive with Anyone-with-the-link, paste the Drive URL on TranscriptX.
Step-by-step
1) Open your Podcastle project
In the Podcastle web app, open the session project you want to transcribe.
2) Export / Download the final file
Click Export → pick MP3 (audio) or MP4 (video). Download to your computer.
3) Upload to Drive, paste
Drive flow → paste on TranscriptX.
Common things that break
- Podcastle's AI tools are in the output. If you applied Magic Dust / AI audio cleanup, the transcription runs on the cleaned version — usually higher accuracy. Good.
- Free-tier export limits. Free Podcastle has export duration caps. If your session is longer than the cap, export trims it — transcribe only what you can export.
- Auto-generated transcript already included. Podcastle's own transcript is included on most paid plans. If it's good enough for your use, you don't need us. If you want cleaner output or SRT/VTT export, use TranscriptX.

FAQ
Why would I use TranscriptX when Podcastle has transcription?
Podcastle's is good but locked in their format. We output SRT/VTT/plain text with timestamps. Better if you need to drop captions into a video editor or a blog post.
Does this work for video podcasts on Podcastle?
Yes. Export as MP4, upload, paste — same flow.
