How to Transcribe a Streamable Video
Updated 24 Apr 2026 · TranscriptX editorial
Step-by-step
1) Open the Streamable link
Paste the URL in your browser first to confirm it plays. Streamable free-tier clips expire after 90 days — if it's gone for you, it's gone for us.
2) Copy the URL
Format is streamable.com/abc123. Short, clean — nothing to clean up.
3) Paste on TranscriptX
Drop it on transcriptx.xyz and hit Transcribe. Clips are usually short, so transcripts come back in seconds.
Common things that break
- Expired clip. Free Streamable accounts delete uploads after 90 days. If the link 404s in your browser, the clip's gone for us too.
- Password-protected clip. Paid Streamable accounts can lock clips with a password. We can't type it. Owner has to disable the password.
- Flagged / under review. Streamable occasionally pulls clips for review after upload. Retry later or have the owner re-upload.
- Music-only clip. Lots of Streamable clips are silent GIF-style or music-only. No speech = empty transcript.

FAQ
Does this work for Streamable premium / branded clips?
Yes, as long as the clip is publicly viewable. Watermarks and custom branding don't affect our ability to transcribe.
Can I transcribe lots of Streamable clips at once?
Yes, on our batch tier. Paste one URL per line and we process them in parallel.
What about the old Streamable CDN URLs (cdn.streamable.com)?
The standard streamable.com page URL is more reliable — we follow the redirect from there. Direct CDN URLs sometimes work, sometimes 403.
