Why are Stories so hard?

Two reasons: they’re behind the Instagram login wall, and they self-delete after 24 hours. Our servers don’t have an Instagram account, and by the time we tried, the Story would often be gone.

Does the paste flow work for Close Friends Stories?

No — Close Friends Stories are locked to specific accounts. Screen-record from your own account.

What about Instagram Live replays?

If the creator saved the Live to their profile, yes — copy the URL from the saved post. Unsaved Lives disappear.

Will it work on a private account’s Reel?

No. Private accounts require follower approval, and our servers aren’t followers.

How to Transcribe an Instagram Reel or Story

Quick answer: Reel: tap the paper-plane icon → Copy link → paste on TranscriptX. Any public Reel. Stories are harder — they expire in 24 hours and require login. Screen-record it from your phone, upload to Drive, paste the Drive link.

Reels and Stories are both on Instagram, but technically they’re very different. One is easy to transcribe. One is genuinely hard.

Reel: paper-plane icon → Copy link → paste on TranscriptX. Story: screen-record it from your phone, upload the recording to Google Drive, paste the Drive link.

Step-by-step — Instagram Reel

1) Open the Reel and tap Share

On the app or instagram.com, tap the paper-plane icon below the Reel (mobile) or the share arrow (desktop).

2) Tap Copy link

The URL format is instagram.com/reel/ABC123xyz/.

3) Paste into TranscriptX

Open transcriptx.xyz, paste, hit Transcribe.

Step-by-step — Instagram Story (the harder case)

Stories don’t have shareable links outside Instagram. The reliable path:

iPhone: open Control Center → Screen Record. Save to Photos.
Android: pull down Quick Settings → Screen Recorder. Save to Gallery.
Upload the recording to Google Drive, share publicly, paste on TranscriptX.

Common things that break

Private account Reels. Can’t get past the follower gate.
Expired Stories. 24 hours and gone. Screen-record before you forget.
Music-only Reels. No speech = no transcript.
Collab Reels. Posted to two accounts at once. Either account’s link works, as long as it’s public.
