How to Get the Transcript of a TikTok Video
Updated 24 Apr 2026 · TranscriptX editorial
Quick answer: Tap Share on the TikTok → Copy link → paste on TranscriptX. Works on any public video. Private accounts, draft videos, and some region-locked videos won’t open from our servers.
TikTok has auto-captions, but they’re not downloadable and they skip words. If you want the real transcript — for show notes, accessibility, or research — just paste the link.
The 20-second answer
Tap Share on the TikTok, tap Copy link, paste it on TranscriptX.
Step-by-step
1) Open the TikTok and tap Share
On the app or tiktok.com, tap the Share arrow (right side on mobile, below the video on desktop).

2) Tap Copy link
The link looks like tiktok.com/@user/video/1234567890. The short vm.tiktok.com format also works.
3) Paste into TranscriptX
Open transcriptx.xyz, paste, hit Transcribe. 20-30 seconds later you have the text.
Common things that break
- Private or Friends-only videos. TikTok requires a login we don’t have. If it’s yours, flip it to public briefly.
- “Video unavailable in your region.” Our servers are in the US. Some videos are blocked outside the creator’s country.
- Music-only videos. No speech = no transcript. Expected.
- Live replays. These often aren’t shareable after the stream ends. If the replay is gone, it’s gone.
