How to Transcribe a Facebook Video or Live Stream
Updated 24 Apr 2026 · TranscriptX editorial
Quick answer: Open the video or Live on Facebook, copy the post URL from the browser, paste it on TranscriptX. Works on public posts, Pages, Watch, and saved Lives. Private groups and Messenger don’t work.
Facebook auto-captions but won’t let you export them. Annoying. Paste the URL instead.
The 30-second answer
Click the timestamp on the post to open it as a standalone page. Copy the URL. Paste on TranscriptX.
Step-by-step
1) Open the Facebook video or Live
On facebook.com, open the post. Desktop is easier — mobile app URLs are harder to grab.
2) Copy the post URL
Click the timestamp under the post (e.g. “2h ago”) to open the standalone page, then copy from the browser bar. Or click Share → Copy link.

3) Paste on TranscriptX
Drop it on transcriptx.xyz, hit Transcribe.
Common things that break
- Private group videos. Gated behind membership. We can’t join groups.
- Friends-only posts. Require your personal login.
- Expired Lives. If the creator didn’t save the Live, it’s gone.
- Age-gated videos. Facebook requires login for 18+ content.
