How to Transcribe a GoToMeeting Recording
Updated 24 Apr 2026 · TranscriptX editorial
Step-by-step
1) Locate the recording
Cloud recording: sign in at meet.goto.com → Meetings Hub → Recordings. Local recording: find the .mp4 on the organizer's computer (usually in Documents folder).
2) Get a shareable link
Cloud: click Share on the recording, make it public, copy link. Local: upload the .mp4 to Google Drive with Anyone-with-the-link.
3) Paste on TranscriptX
transcriptx.xyz → paste.
Common things that break
- Recording was saved locally, not to cloud. GoToMeeting's default on many plans is local recording. That file is on the organizer's machine only. Upload-to-Drive is the workaround.
- Admin restricts external sharing on cloud recordings. Enterprise tiers sometimes block public share links. Download + Drive fallback is the answer.
- Old-format recordings. GoToMeeting used to save recordings in a proprietary
.g2m
format. Those need to be converted to .mp4 first (GoTo's own converter does this).
- Product renamed — URLs changed. GoToMeeting became GoTo; older meet.logmeininc.com URLs redirect but sometimes break. Grab a fresh link from the new GoTo portal if old ones 404.

FAQ
Is GoToMeeting the same as GoToWebinar?
Related products from the same company, both now branded GoTo. Recording flow is similar; webinars tend to have longer retention and more-gated sharing defaults.
What about the old .g2m files people have lying around?
Use GoTo's own converter to turn them into .mp4. Then upload to Drive and transcribe.
Does this work for GoToTraining?
Yes. Same recording format, same share flow. Different product, same transcription path.
