How to Transcribe an Odysee / LBRY Video
Updated 24 Apr 2026 · TranscriptX editorial
Step-by-step
1) Open the Odysee video
On odysee.com, click the video. Copy the URL from the browser.
2) URL format
Odysee URLs look like odysee.com/@Channel:x/Video-Title:abc12. The colons are important — keep them.
3) Paste on TranscriptX
Drop on transcriptx.xyz. Long videos (Odysee has fewer length restrictions than YouTube) take proportionally longer.
Common things that break
- Creator-only / tipped access. Some Odysee creators gate content behind tipping or membership. Those aren't accessible to us.
- Livestream in progress. Wait for the stream to end. Odysee saves streams to the channel after; that saved version works.
- Content removed from Odysee's frontend. Rare, but Odysee occasionally removes content from their frontend. The underlying LBRY data may still exist but we can't reach it via the blocked URL.
- LBRY Desktop URLs. Some users share
lbry://
protocol URLs. We can't open those. Ask for the odysee.com HTTPS URL instead.

FAQ
What's the difference between Odysee and LBRY?
LBRY is the underlying blockchain protocol; Odysee is the most popular web frontend for it. For transcription, use odysee.com URLs — we can't open
lbry://
protocol URLs.
Are Odysee videos monetized differently?
Yes (LBC tokens / tips), but that doesn't affect transcription. Public videos are transcribable regardless of whether they have tip buttons.
What about censorship — are Odysee videos more likely to disappear?
Odysee is less aggressive about removals than YouTube, but they do remove some content. If a URL 404s, we can't recover it.
