Loom already shows captions. Why use TranscriptX?

Loom captions don’t export cleanly — you’d have to copy them line-by-line. We give you the transcript as plain text, SRT, VTT, or whatever format you need.

Does it work on free-tier Loom videos?

Yes. Free videos are fine while they’re live. Free tier cleans up older storage, so if a Loom is expired, it’s gone for us too.

Password-protected Loom?

Our servers can’t type passwords. Remove the password temporarily, transcribe, and put it back.

Workspace-only Loom videos?

Those require a member login. Switch the access to Anyone with the link for the duration of the transcription.

How to Transcribe a Loom Video

Quick answer: Click Share on the Loom → Copy link → paste on TranscriptX. Works on free and paid Loom, on public and workspace-visible videos — as long as access is set to Anyone with the link.

Loom is everywhere in remote work. The captions exist but exporting them is annoying. Skip that step.

Click Share on the Loom, Copy link, paste on TranscriptX.

Step-by-step

1) Open the Loom and click Share

On loom.com or the desktop app, click Share (top right).

2) Make sure it’s Anyone with the link

Under Who has access, set to Anyone with the link. Workspace-only won’t work — our servers aren’t in your workspace.

3) Copy link, paste on TranscriptX

URL format is loom.com/share/HEXSTRING. Drop it on transcriptx.xyz.

Common things that break

Workspace-only access. Switch to Anyone with the link, or you’ll get a 403.
Password-protected. Remove the password for the duration.
Deleted or expired Loom. Free tier cleans up after quota. If the link 404s, the video is gone.
Embed-only share. Loom has an embed-only option that doesn’t produce a direct URL. Use the regular share link instead.
