How to Transcribe a Vimeo Video (Public, Password-Protected, or Private)

Vimeo has three privacy modes that matter. Two work cleanly.

Public / Unlisted: paste the URL on TranscriptX. Password-protected: remove the password, transcribe, put it back. Domain-locked / OTT: not reachable.

• Unlisted — works.
• Password-protected — works only if you remove the password temporarily.
• Private (only me) — doesn’t work.
• Embed-on-specific-domains — doesn’t work.
• Vimeo OTT (subscription) — doesn’t work.

Copy the video URL from the browser. Paste on transcriptx.xyz. Hit Transcribe.

Step-by-step — password-protected (if you own it)

Vimeo → your video → Settings → Privacy. Switch Who can watch to Anyone. Save. Transcribe. Switch the setting back.

Common things that break

• Password wall. Remove it or we can’t open the page.
• “Unavailable in your region.” Rare, but possible on OTT or licensed content.
• Embed-only video. “Hide this video from vimeo.com” breaks the direct URL path.
• Multi-hour uploads. They work, but transcription time scales with length.
