How to Transcribe a Pinterest Video or Idea Pin

Quick answer: Open the video Pin on Pinterest, copy the URL from the browser (or tap Share → Copy link in the app), paste it on TranscriptX. Works on public Pins and Idea Pins. Secret boards and private accounts won't work.

Step-by-step

1) Open the Pin on Pinterest

On pinterest.com, click the video Pin to open its detail view. On mobile, tap the Pin to expand it. You want the single-Pin view, not the board or profile feed.

2) Copy the Pin URL

On desktop, copy the URL from the browser — it looks like pinterest.com/pin/1234567890/. On mobile, tap the Share arrow → Copy link. The short pin.it/abc123 format also works.

3) Paste into TranscriptX

Open transcriptx.xyz, paste the Pin URL, hit Transcribe. Under a minute for most Pins — Idea Pins with multiple video pages take a bit longer.

Common things that break

Secret board Pin. Secret boards require a Pinterest login. Our servers can't get in. Move the Pin to a public board temporarily, transcribe, then move it back.
Private account Pin. Private accounts require approved followers. We don't have an account. If it's yours, flip to public briefly or re-Pin to a public board.
Music-only Idea Pin. Lots of Idea Pins are soundtrack over visuals with no spoken audio. No speech = empty transcript. Expected.
Multi-page Idea Pin. If only some pages have spoken audio, you'll get a transcript of the audio portions. If pages have separate audio tracks, they transcribe as one continuous stream.
Pinterest TV or live content. Pinterest TV episodes work once the replay is saved. Live streams that haven't been archived aren't reachable — wait for the replay.
Country-blocked commercial Pin. Rare, but some paid-partnership Pins are geo-restricted. Our servers are in the US. If the Pin doesn't play for a US viewer, we can't transcribe it.

Can you transcribe Idea Pins with multiple pages?

Yes. Each page's audio is transcribed in order and returned as a single transcript. Pages without spoken audio produce an empty segment and we skip them.

What about Pinterest videos with no captions?

Pinterest rarely provides captions at all — which is why this guide exists. We run Whisper on the actual audio track, so caption presence doesn't matter.

Does the pin.it short link work?

Yes. We resolve the short link to the canonical Pin URL before fetching. Either format works.

Will it capture the music in a Pin?

No. Whisper transcribes spoken language, not song lyrics. Music gets ignored. If a Pin is all music with no voice-over, you'll get an empty transcript.

What if my Pin is on a shared board I was invited to?

Shared boards behave like public boards as long as the owner has set the board to public. If it's set to secret or collaborators-only, our servers can't reach it.
